HIGH SCHOOL PHENOM
Brooklynite Jackie “Black Jack” Ryan was a high school hoops phenom with many major collegesaround the country pining to get his services to their schools. But when he couldn’t make the grades or please the coaches, Black Jack bounced around several small colleges before dropping out altogether.

STREETBALL LEGEND
From here Ryan devoted himself to conquering the NYC streetball scene where coaches and academics couldn’t get in his way – and he was very successful there. He is widely heralded as being one of the greatest shooters the game has seen on any level. But despite having all the talent, Ryan was facing a full-court press in his private life with personal demons, and a struggle with self-esteem. These challenges kept him from pursuing what projected to be a lucrative pro career in the NBA and elsewhere.



THE HOOP WIZARD
But Ryan was able to redeem a basketball career that appeared to be on a tragic course through a life-changing signing with the Harlem Wizards. Black Jack found a new home with the Wizards and became a team leader in the organization’s events. He was able to parlay his new-found notoriety into a solo career as “The Hoop Wizard” putting on events and entertaining kids – which he continues to do to this day!
